Phi Lambda Upsilon
Phi Lamda Upsilon is a national honorary society dedicated to promoting high scholarship and original investigation in all branches of pure and applied chemistry. Founded in March 1899 at the University of Illinois, PLU was the first honor society dedicated to a single scientific discipline. It has since grown to become an organization comprising 73 chapters and more than 60,000 members.
NYU Chemistry Honor Society
The Alpha Lambda Chapter of PLU was chartered at NYU in 1935. Since then, just as PLU has grown nationally, so has the recognition of NYU's Chemistry Honor Society. Today, we have become an organization that strives in all of its endeavors to inform and inspire. Our mission is to cultivate within and beyond the borders of our university a community that appreciates the beauty of chemistry and the wonders of scientific insight.
